CAT® MACHINES PLAY A CENTRAL ROLE IN LOUHINTAHIEKKA’S DAILY OPERATIONS

Louhintahiekka Oy’s first year under new ownership has been dynamic and full of renewal. The company has focused on employee development, recruitment, and modernizing its equipment. According to CEO Aapo Lahtinen, the new strategy aims for more sustainable and profitable operations, and the office has been relocated from Tuusula to Pitäjänmäki in Helsinki.

Cat machines play a significant role in Louhintahiekka’s operations. The company currently operates approximately 15 Cat machines, and in 2024, the fleet was expanded with three new Next Gen models: the Cat 330, the long-reach Cat 340 LRE, and the nearly 100-ton Cat 395. These machines are utilized in major projects such as the expansion of Rauma Port and the construction of the Kolabacken area in Kirkkonummi. The Cat 395, in particular, demonstrates its efficiency in moving rock and constructing marine fills.

Louhintahiekka emphasizes environmental sustainability, reliability, and high utilization rates in its equipment purchases. All Cat machines are equipped with the latest technology, such as 3D machine control systems, which enhance efficiency and safety. The company also has maintenance agreements with Avesco to ensure the reliability of its equipment.

Louhintahiekka’s diverse expertise and robust equipment ensure the company can continue to meet the growing demands of infrastructure construction. CEO Lahtinen views the future optimistically, as additional government funding and the repair debt of cities and municipalities bring new opportunities to the infrastructure sector.
